6 27 2010 Kissena International Omnium - Weather and Results

http://www.weatherunderground.com/

As you can see above, the weather was extremely hot and humid, but it turned out to be a great day of racing. Affinity rider Colin Prensky broke the 12 second barrier in the flying 200 meter with a time of 11.92 seconds. I did a 13.05 time in a 52x13=108" gear, which was good enough for first in the Cat 4s and 6th best time of the day in the flying 200 meter, but still disappointed I did not break the 13 seconds barrier. Usually you do your best time on the second or third effort, but we did not have the luxury today of doing several efforts as we do in training. The first max effort in your race gear is more of a test run before your good effort.

The highlight of the day was Affinity junior rider Anthony Freeman who did a time of 13.19 seconds in an 86" gear, this was good enough for first place in the Cat 5s, he also won most of the other races and was upgraded to a Cat 4 as a result.

The other races which took place were the Points Race, Miss and Out and Scratch Race. The standing start 400 meter and 1600 meter races were cancelled for most of us because of time constraints.
